Should you wish it, we can arrange for you a private taxi transfer from Split Airport to Drvenik.
Our fully licensed taxi driver Vedran will be waiting you directly as you exit baggage reclaim area and he will chauffeur you directly to Drvenik with a Mercedes Vito People Carrier.

Please be advised that there is no petrol station in Sucuraj so depending on your travel plans for your holiday please ensure that you fill up on petrol before reaching Sucuraj. Along the Makarska Riviera you will find a petrol station in Makarska. The nearest petrol station on the island is in Jelsa, 50 kms from Sucuraj.

The owner of Villa Palma, Vlado will meet and greet you as you disembark from the ferry in Sucuraj. He will show you to the property and provide you with information for your stay. Vlado also lives on the ground floor of the property as he looks after the property and guests. Please don’t hesitate to ask for anything you may need during your stay.

We usually request our guests to check in after 2 pm and check out is by 10am. However depending on our bookings we can at times be flexible on this so please advise us beforehand if you have any specific needs. If possible we will try to accommodate your request.
Should you arrive earlier that the check in time we can always look after your luggage whilst you explore the town or go for a swim!

The Kuna – there are approximately 8.8 kuna to the British pound, dependent upon the prevailing exchange rate. The Euro is also widely accepted but you will receive your change in Kuna.

Changing currency at Split airport: Splitska banka (07.30-19.30) has an exchange office and it can be found at the far end of the main hall.

Please note that in Sucuraj there are is no bank however there is an exchange office and ATM. Credit cards are accepted in most places in town although a few of the smaller family run restaurant may only accept cash.

Villa Palma is well located at only 5 minutes from Bilina beach and 5 minutes into town. The villa is positioned at the highest point in town and from this vantage point offers spectacular view over the town, across to Peninsula Peljesac and to the mainland.

The supermarkets in town are small but will stock everything that you would need for the duration of your holiday. If you are traveling by car to Sucuraj then you may wish to do your food shop in a large Konzum Supermarket which is located in Makarska, just off the main D8 road. There you will have a wider range of products.

Yes, tap water is drinkable throughout Croatia.

In common with warm countries worldwide, you will find mosquitos. We recommend that you take the appropriate repellent/cream.

Should you wish it, on arrival to Villa Palma we can arrange boat hire for you. This is a popular day out and it is the perfect way to explore nearby secret bays and beaches, that are not accessible on foot.

The boat is a 5 metre boat with outboard engine and sun canopy. A driving licence is not required and the owner of the boat Ante will show you the ropes before heading out on your trip. It is all quite straightforward.
Many of our guests avail of this opportunity and thoroughly enjoy their time. Ensure you pack a picnic, bottled water, sun cream and hats!

The cost of the boat hire is of Euros 60 (including fuel).
At an extra cost, we are also able to arrange a skipper/driver for you for the day.

There are several different types of beaches close to the property.

Bilina beach is the closest (5 minute walk from the villa) and the most popular because of its unspoiled natural beauty. It is a very tranquil beach and it never gets busy. It has a pebble and stone shore with flat rocks suitable for sunbathing. There are lots of rock pools which always fascinate children. A very popular beach for all the family.

Cesminica beach is the main local beach and is also very attractive. Approximately a 10-15 minute walk from the property. It offers a pebbly and stoney shore with a sandy shallow bottom. This beach is suitable for children and there is a coffee shop here just selling refreshments.

The beach in Mlaska Bay is very attractive but slightly out of town – approximately 4 kms so best reached by car or bikes. It is a mixture of sand, pebbles and concrete. It offers a sandy shallow bottom which is great for children. There is camping site here so it can get a bit busy at times. There is a restaurant here serving meals and selling refreshments.

Perna bay is wonderful and perfect if you are planning on renting a boat during your stay. This beach is not easily accessible on foot. It has a shallow sandy bottom and is truly beautiful, great for swimming and snorkeling.

At Villa Palma, we can offer complimentary use of beach gear including beach mats, inflatables, snorkels, buckets/spades etc. These are available on a first come first served basis.

At Villa Palma we do provide beach towels for your stay however we would recommend that you think about bringing sea shoes (non slip for entering water) or purchasing these locally in town.

Hvar Town, Starigrad and Jelsa are all lovely towns and well worth a trip. Although bear in mind that in the peak of the season Hvar Town may be busy and crowded.

Sućuraj is 77 km away from Hvar, 61 km from Stari Grad and 50 km from Jelsa. Bus lines to the rest of the island do exist but are fairly rare (Monday, Wednesday and Friday). There is a taxi service available from Sucuraj. There are lots of other beautiful spots on the island… too many to mention here but please don’t hesitate to contact us for more suggestions/recommendations.

Also day trips to Split and Dubrovnik are also possible from Sucuraj. With both cities approx 2 to 2.5 hours away by car.

During the summer months there are organized boat trips departing from Sucuraj to island Korcula. For more information and tickets visit the exchange office in Sucuraj.

TRPANJ (Pelješac)
Departure everyday at 07:00h and return at 14:30h. Price is cca 130 kn for person and the lunch at the boat is included.

KORČULA
Departure every Thursday at 07:30h and return at 16:30h. Price is 200 kn for person and the lunch at the boat is included.

Yes this is available and has proved popular with guests who have reached us via means of public transport but wish nonetheless to explore the island further. This can be arranged on arrival.

Sucuraj is predominately reliant on the fishing industry however there are several families producing their own wines, local Prosec wine (similar to Port), different types of Rakija liqueurs, olive oil, honey and dried figs.

Vlado and Tom, the owners of Villa Palma, make their own wine, olive oil, liqueurs and dried figs. These are available for purchase for our guests.

Those who love cycling, jogging and hiking can enjoy more than 40 km of paths surrounding the town. Snorkeling is also great here. At Villa Palma we offer two bicycles for the use of our guests. There is also a football pitch and basketball court.
