My wife, two teenage kids and myself stayed 4 nights at the Villa Palma in August. We were met off the ferry from Drvenik by Francesca's father in law Vlado who took us to the apartment personally. The apartment is exactly as described and was very clean and comfortable with a terrace which had a great view of the Adriatic. The location is secluded and quiet but is only a 5 minute walk to the restaurants in the town and the same to the beach. I would highly recommend Villa Palma and would love to go back!

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday staying at this immaculate appartment. The location and the facilities were all that had been promised and much more. Although we had hired a car we did not use it and were happy to make the 5 minute walk to the port or to the beach in the other direction.
Our host, Vlado was delightful and treated us to a beautiful meal on our last night and told us the history of the area.
The views were stunning in all directions and I am missing the delicious smell of the ripening figs in the sunshine!
We travelled with our teenage daughters who also had a great time. Not somewhere if you are looking for lively nightlife but it suited them well too after a stressful year of exams.

Villa Palma Apartment – August 2016 –

Stayed at Villa Palma with my husband and two sons 11 and 15, what a beautiful and relaxing week we had. From the moment we arrived nothing was too much trouble for our hosts Francesca and Tom. We were made to feel very welcome from the start. Tom kindly met us at the ferryport as we hadn’t hired a car and Francesca greeted us at Villa Palma with a much needed lovely bottle of home produced wine. Villa Palma is stunning with amazing views from the balcony and even the bathroom! It has everything you need for a self catering holiday it is well equipped and very stylish and modern. The apartment is a credit to Francesca and her family. Lazy days were spent on the nearby beach with amazing views and crystal clear water, snorkel gear and water shoes are a must. We also spent time at the beach in town about a 10 minute walk away and a little busier than the local beach. The evenings were spent at the marina at the restaurants, where there is plenty of choices for everyone pizza, fish, meat etc. Sadly after a couple of days we had to say goodbye to Francesca, Tom and their lovely son Luca (who is such a character) and say hello to Tom’s father Vlado who once again was so welcoming and friendly, sharing a drink with my husband and giving us a bag of his amazing figs. Vlado even arranged the hire of a boat for us for the day which I would highly recommend. All in all we had a fabulous holiday with vey friendly and welcoming hosts, Vlado even dropped us at the ferryport at 6 in the morning on the day of our departure. Nothing was ever too much trouble and we will definately return to Villa Palma! Only negative is we were unable to load our suitcase with their home produced wine (of which we drank plenty).

Villa Palma Apartment- June 2016

My 16 year old daughter and I had a fabulous 4 days in this apartment in Sucuraj. We didn’t want to take a car, so it was ideal: a 2 min walk to the little marina, 4 min walk to the very secluded beach with crystal-clear water and large flat rocks on which to sunbathe, and two bicycles for exploring the area (one of them had no gears and you could only brake by pedalling backwards, but it was a good work-out!). We were met from the ferry by Vlado, who lives in the ground floor of the apartment and was incredibly welcoming and kind. Our apartment had everything we needed and was extremely clean, although it doesn’t have a sitting-room, just two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a kitchen. We sat on our balcony a lot to enjoy the views out to sea and of the mountains, and to enjoy the sun, so the absence of a sitting-room didn’t bother us particularly. The area around Sucuraj is really beautiful: little roads lined with cypress trees, wildflowers, olive and fig trees, plus lots of birds, butterflies and the occasional flying beetle…(less popular). And everywhere, the sea is clean and inviting.

Villa Palma Apartment - September 2015

For our first time in Croatia, we decided to travel to the Hvar Island (parents with 2 children: 13 and 9). After some internet researches, we found this nice appartment in Sucuraj. The appartment is very well equipped, very clean and in a perfect location (5 minutes walk to a nice wild beach, 5 minutes walk to the village). Vlado welcomed us immediatly when we arrived with the ferry and helped us during our stay with some nice tips; this in addition to his natural friendliness. Sucuraj is a small and nice quiet village with a few nice restaurants and beaches all around (where snorkling adds a lot of fun to the whole family). The surrounding scenery is amazing. It takes quite some time to drive to the city of Hvar but it is worth to be seen, but in our opinion Sucuraj is a better place to stay if you need a beautiful and quiet place to relax.

Die Woche im Appartment verging wie im Flug. Wir wurden von Vlado direkt an der Fähre abgeholt und zum Appartment geführt. Das Appartment war bereits mit allen Zutaten für ein Frühstück ausgestattet. Die Räume sind sehr grosszügig und in einem gehobenen Standard ausgebaut.
2 Gehminuten zum kleinen Dorf und rund 3 Minuten zu Fuss an einen wunderbaren kleinen Strand den man praktisch für sich alleine hat.

Villa Palma Apartment 1 - July 2015

If you want a low-key, peaceful vacation be sure to include Sucuraji! The townspeople are friendly and the town has everything you would need. You can relax by the sea or go into town and enjoy a coffee and the local atmosphere.

The apartments at Villa Palma are fantastic! They are modern (have free access to wifi, in which my husband appreciated immensely) and spotless. Upon arrival, you will receive some staples such as water, eggs, milk, and some locally grown fruit to tide you over until you can make your way to a grocery store. The grounds are well kept and my husband and I took advantage of the free use of the bicycles to 'tour' around this part of the island. There is a lovely BBQ area as well in which you may be treated to a free BBQ during one night of your stay. The atmosphere is extremely friendly. Vlado and Palma make you feel as if you are a part of their family and with this, they will help you with anything that you need.

If you read reviews about this place, they usually talk about Vlado, who is a genuine, stand-up guy. He is a man who will make sure that your stay is comfortable and that you leave with a smile on your face. Even though Vlado is the face of the 'operation' his wife, Palma, is the woman behind the scenes. Her cooking is second to none! She made us a Tiramisu cake that was to die for! This husband and wife combination truly put their hearts and souls into this operation.

If you are debating on where to stay during your hard-earned summer/spring/fall vacation, debate no more, Villa Palma will not disappoint!

Sucuraj is a small, quiet town where there are nice people.
Villa is situated in a quiet location, mountain town Sucuraj. It is a few minutes from the sea or the city. Everyone finds his place on the beach, rocky areas or small copse official with rhinestones. The city has great restaurants - Fortica, Gusarska Luka, or Pizzeria Vujnovic. Mr. Vujnovic offers excellent wines - Plame, Ivan Dolac.
Accommodation is large, extremely clean and well equipped.
Home hosts Vlado Palma and his wife and family are all wonderful people. The government is very helpful, kind, helpful person. We did leave us more beautiful. Thank you for all goodwill and pleasant holiday. Dealing with Francesca's to an excellent level. Thank you, we spent a wonderful time.

Das Apartment in der Villa Palma hat uns super gefallen. Die Beschreibungen der Unterkunft waren sehr genau und hilfreich. Die Ausstattung der Wohnung ist ausreichend, um gut für 4 Personen essen und kochen zu können. Zusätzlich stehen auch Strandmatten und andere Utensilien (wie zum Beispiel zwei Fahrräder) zur Ausleihe bereit. Die Betreuung vor Ort war optimal und immer hilfsbereit. Sucuraj ist eine tolle Destination für ruhige und entspannte Ferien in der Sonne. Erholung ist auf jeden Fall garantiert.

Stayed in the penthouse 4 days at Easter. Highly recommend this place - it is as the pictures show - a beautiful location, stunning views, modern, bright apartment with well supplied kitchen and lovely quiet garden for outdoor eating which unfortunately Easter weather did not allow us to experience. Booking and deposit arrangements were easily made by email.

This was my 3rd time staying in Sucuraj. It is at the eastern most tip of Hvar island almost touching the mainland. Many tourists visit Hvar old town and Stari Grad - a formidable 1.30 drive over mountains to the western end of the island but we chose Sucuraj because it has a quiet, close knit village feel yet is just a relaxing 30 min ferry ride across from the busy Dalmatian coastline between Split and Dubrovnik. The little harbour is beautiful and though it's not an overly commercialised village there are a couple of restaurants, shops, a pub and a pretty and historic church.

Although the drive to the apartment takes a few minutes round the north side of the village, there is a pedestrian path to the harbour that takes just two or three minutes. Vlado, the owner's father/father in law is a very kind and friendly gentleman and an excellent host. He speaks a little english and we enjoyed home made merlot wine and honey produced by other relatives. We had brought basic food essentials with us but actually the fridge was stocked with bread, eggs, milk, butter, walnuts and figs and unexpectedly a gift of delicious home made cake arrived on Easter Sunday!

Drvenik (where you get the ferry from the mainland) is approx 1:30 to 2:00 hour drive from Dubrovnik with several ferries a day from 6.30 am. Cost approx €20 for car and 4 adults. We will definitely return here in the summer when we can enjoy the balcony and garden more!

Last year we stayed in 1st Floor Apartment at Villa Palma and enjoyed it so much we came back this year again for two weeks, but this time we stayed in the Penthouse Apartment. The apartment was very clean, very well equipped and offered fantasic views. The hospitality from the hosts was just fantastic.

Having seen a lot of the island during our first visit, we were very content in just spending relaxing days at the nearby beach and then going to the village in the evening for a lovely meal. The hosts even treated us to a barbeque which was great. It was also a great opportunity to taste some of their own wine and other self made products.

The children really loved the holiday, particularly the beach - swimming, exploring the rock pools, eating watermelon, etc, and the Penthouse Apartment offers a great living area for the whole family or even couples to relax in the evening.

I thoroughly recommend the Villa Palma Apartments

The views from all aspects are simply stunning, particularly from the huge picture window in the living room. Spotlessly clean apartment. Super friendly owners who bent over backwards to make our stay first rate, providing fresh figs picked straight from the trees, a great barbeque and lovely wine made on the premises. A laptop with free wifi was provided for our use, as were board games and DVDs for the kids.

A range of beautiful beaches are minutes away, as is the gorgeous town of Sucuraj with its ample range of restaurants, bars, cafe's and supermarkets. A top class destination, relaxing and peaceful. Great snorkeling and swimming in the lovely warm crystal clear sea.

The road to Hvar town, Jelsa and Stari Grad has mostly been upgraded and is now one of the most scenic and best roads I've ever driven on, with spectacular views of the islands and inlets of this most beautiful island. The owners even organised for us to hire our own boat to travel round the numerous bays of the island...just gorgeous. We want to move there! Thank you Vlado, Francesca and Tomislav so much for making our stay so memorable, we'll be back.

We arrived in Sucuraj and generous Vlado (our host) came to pick us up in his car. We were taken to the apartment which was lovely very clean and spacious with free WiFi and DVD's for evenings when we weren't sitting out on the balcony with an absoulutly stunning view.

We enjoyed our trips in to Sucuraj town having lovely meals out and looking round some touristy shops. The two beaches in Sucuraj are lovely but the rocky one was our favourite. We enjoyed a couple of days out one was a fish picnic boat to the island of Korcula and another one was visiting Mlaska, Vlado even drove us there which was beyond his call of duty. Mlaska is a lovely sandy beach great for kids to play and well worth
a visit!

After Mlaska Vlado provided us with the most delicious food cooked on his grill! After our week in Sucuraj our stay was over. We would highly recommended this apartment to anyone visiting Croatia and a huge thanks to Vlado for making our stay so enjoyable!

Ein Lob an Francesca, die ich nicht kennengelernt habe aber welche mich mit ihrer professionellen Abwicklung der Buchung und Weitergabe von Informationen restlos begeistert hat.

Das Penthouse Appartement war wunderschön eingerichtet und mit allen Extras ausgestattet. Nicht nur dass eine Waschmaschine bereitstand (das kam uns mit einem einjährigen Kind entgegen), auch für unsere Tochter wurde mit Kinderbett und -wäsche bestens gesorgt. Der Kühlschrank war bei unserer Ankunft mit den nötigsten Lebensmitteln gefüllt und auch Brot lag auf dem Tisch.

Die Lage auf dem Hügel mit Sicht auf das Meer, Festland und Korcula war perfekt. Das Dorf ist nur 5 Gehminuten weit weg von der Villa Palma.

Lieber Vlado, mit deiner gemütlichen und liebenswerten Art haben wir uns unter deinem Dach sehr willkommen gefühlt. Unsere Tochter hat dich ins Herz geschlossen und auch wir vergessen die langen Abende nicht so schnell.

I can not recommend the apartment enough, and thoroughly agree with all the positive comments on this site. We had no problems arranging our stay with Francesca who helped us plan our trip, and we had a lovely time with our host Vlado who was very generous. Everything you need to cook was provided, inc. oil and condiments. Sucaraj was quiet during our visit as we arrived a few weeks before the season began, so we had the beaches to ourselves and a lovely welcome from the locals. A great place to relax on our honeymoon. We plan to return to Croatia and will definitely be going back to Villa Palma.

I can only echo what has already been said. Well equipped, clean and comfortable apartment. Hosts that went above and beyond to ensure our stay was enjoyable and comfortable. (Even sharing some toys with our 1 year old!!).After a long day travelling, the essentials provided for us meant that we could immediately relax and unwind after our journey.

Sucuraj is a beautiful, unspoilt little town within easy reach of mainland and main cities, and also the most beautiful secluded beaches.
The town has everything you need with 3 foodstores (all very patient with me trying to ask for bread in Croatian!) and a stall selling fresh fruit and veg. We (as vegetarians) recommend Pizza Guido for good food and relaxing by the harbour.

We took day trips to Dubrovnik and Hvar town and to many of the beaches/coves all around.

We were almost two weeks in the penthouse apartment of Francesca and Tom and to connect us to other reviews only. We were impressed with the apartment. The furniture is carefully selected and of a high standard, there is a selection of books and DVDs, which is for all tastes and views of the sea and the surrounding countryside is stunning. It was great when we arrived It also reflects a stocked fridge and Francesca and Tom have received warm and welcoming. The beautiful harbor and village Sucuraj are just a few minutes walk away, and yet it is so small it has to offer 7 good restaurants. The closest cities (Hvar, Stari Grad and Jelsa) are at least an hour and therefore with young children is not necessarily easy to achieve. We have the cheap ferry often made trips to the mainland, so that our little boy was able to play with other kids on the stand and plenty of "action" had. All in all we highly recommend this apartment for a very peaceful and quiet holiday. And the homemade dried figs by Vlado are by far the best we have ever tasted.

Villa Palma exceeded my expectations and is a high quality apartment - and I'm not easily impressed! It is well designed, light, spacious, airy, quiet and extremely clean. There is a large balcony as well as outside sitting areas and it is a stone's throw from the sea and the small town. The owner has equipped it superbly: there is wi-fi, UK plug adaptors, a hairdryer, books to mention a few things. The owners made us feel very welcome and I found them very generous: they had stocked the fridge with simple provisions and had provided the kitchen essentials such as oil, sugar, tea, coffee etc. How refreshing to have this when tired on arrival - I have stayed in some places where there is not even a grain of salt in a self catering apartment. The owner's family were on-hand and nothing was too much trouble. Sucuraj is a delightful, unspoilt small town - it is the perfect place for a quiet holiday (even in August when we went) where you want to do little more than swim, relax, read, drink in cafes and stroll around the small fishing harbour. I did not hire a car and transfer from Split by bus was not too onerous at all. The ferry from Drevenik is very small and straightforward and cheap. I travelled with a 14 year old who found the town and the holiday and apartment delightful - and who was glad of the 'down time' in her hectic teen schedule! Very highly recommended.

The apartment is located in a quiet area but within 5 minutes walk to the village's restaurants, shops and beautiful marina. It is spotlessly clean throughout and has everything we needed to feel at home. The apartment is decorated to the highest standard. The views are absolutely stunning.

From the start, Francesca answered all our queries in a timely manner and given us invaluable advice on our trip planning. Vlado was an excellent host - literally nothing was too much trouble: very hospitable, picked us up from the ferry, organised a boat for us, showed us around the village and recommended places to eat. There was a great "welcome gift" waiting for us at the apartment which included homemade wine, bread, local honey etc. During our stay we were offered delicious figs and lemons from the owner's garden.

There are a variety of beaches around. We explored all of them and were not disappointed. However, some of them are further away than others. You would need to have a car to travel around.

I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet place in a beautiful location with a great possibility to experience local way of life.

We had a fantastic week here exploring the coastline and stunning beaches.

The apartment was fab with great views. the little touches like the welcome food and wine were much appreciated. Vlado and Ivana (sorry if I have spelt names wrong!) looked after us very well, and sorted out fires for the outdoor oven and shared lots of local tips.

The beaches are safe for kids and the water is crystal clear and warm. The local rock/pebble beach was the favourite with lots of fish to see and shade under the trees. It was also worth visiting the amazing Perna bay. Just stunning and worth the hairy drive down the dirt track.

Thanks again. We will be back!

Wir hatten das Glück, Francesca, Tom, Kids und Vlado persönlich kennen zu lernen, sie sind ausgesprochen liebe und sehr großzügige Gastgeber. Wir wurden von Tom beim Hafen abgeholt, worüber wir froh waren, da die Zufahrtsstraße schwer zu finden ist. Apartment war sehr sauber, bestens ausgestattet und bei der Ankunft hatten wir als Gastgeschenk sogar Grundnahrungsmittel in unserem Kühlschrank. So was haben wir noch nie erlebt. Vielen Dank nochmal. In Sucuraj gibt es nette Strände, der nächstgelegene zum Apartment ist zu Fuß in 3 Minuten erreichbar. Er ist felsig, aber dafür etwas ruhiger. Der Hauptstrand mit Sanduntergrund ist in ca. 10-15 Minuten erreichbar. Mit dem Auto kann man zur Mliska und Perna Bucht fahren, zur letzt genannten fährt man nach dem Fußballfeld eine Schotterstraße entlang. Beim Mliska Strand zahlt man 10 Kuna pro Person und 30 Kuna fürs parken. In den Ort geht man vom Apartment ca. 3 Minuten, man muss nicht die Straße zurück laufen, die man mit dem Auto fährt.

We enjoyed a very relaxing holiday in Sucuraj. The apartment is comfortable, immaculately clean and well equipped. The views from the picture windows and the balcony are magnificent and you can watch boats and the ferry coming and going all day. We loved the situation of the apartment – just a short walk north to the rocky coastline, a shady pine tree and a swim or snorkel in the clear water. Walk for couple of minutes to the south along a village path and you are reach the little port where you can sit and watch the world go by while enjoying your coffee/beer/icecream. Fancesca and Tomasz were delightful and generous hosts. They met us at the ferry, made us feel very welcome and were always happy to help. Sucuraj is a delightful location for a relaxing and simple holiday.

Villa Palma Penthouse Apartment- September 2015

We have just returned from the most relaxing holiday ever, the Villa is immaculate and has everything you could ever need.

The hosts, Vlado and Francesca are such warm and friendly people, they made us most welcome and nothing was too much trouble, Vlado is an amazing man, and rightfully proud of the amazing Villas he has built brick by brick. We left feeling we had known them for ages, and were treated to a typical Croatian barbecue on our last night. Just perfect, and would highly recommend.

We stayed an awesome 6 days at Villa Palma. The house was super clean and well eqipped looked exactly as described. Vlado was very friendly and helpful he even lend us his tools so we can repair our car. The city center and the beach is close to the villa, not further than 1 minute each. We stayed in the apartment on the first floor but we still had a fair sea-view. If we ever visit Hvar again, we will choose Villa Palma. ?

Das Haus der Villa Palma liegt am Ende der Insel Hvar in der Nähe des Leuchtturms. Das Gebäude liegt mittig auf der Insel, man kommt über einen kleinen Weg innerhalb von 2 Minuten in den urigen Hafen, wo man einkaufen und in Restaurants leckeren Fisch und dergleichen essen kann (Alles was man benötigt ist quasi zu Fuß zu erreichen). Wir haben das Apartment zu viert gemietet, es war sehr sauber und wirkte hell und einladend. Auf dem schmalen Balkon kann man die gewaschene Wäsche trocknen und Abends beisammen sitzen zum Karten spielen und den Blick über’s Meer schweifen lassen. Auf der anderen Seite des Hauses führt ein kurzer Weg runter zum Meer und es gibt einen abgesperrten Bereich im Wasser zum schwimmen. Natürlich kann man auch ausserhalb des Bereichs schwimmen und vor allem wunderbar schnorcheln, allerdings sollte man beim schnorcheln eine gut sichtbare Boje dabei haben, da rund um die Insel Segelboote und Jachten ihre Runden ziehen. Die Villa Palma liegt ruhig gelegen, man schläft in den Betten sehr gut und eine Klimaanlage sorgt im “Sleep-Modus” für angenehme Kühlung in der Nacht. Die Küche ist sauber, gut ausgestattet und es lässt sich auf dem Gasofen sehr gut kochen. Die Kroaten kochen allerdings ihren Kaffee nicht in Maschinen, sondern gießen ihn auf, dies sorgte am ersten Morgen bei uns für Verwirrung. Der Kühlschrank war bei unserer Anreise schon mit Frühstücksutensilien gefüllt, was für uns perfekt war, da wir spät Abends erst ankamen. Der Gastgeber Vlado hat uns herzlich empfangen und stand uns hilfreich mit Rat und Tat zur Seite. In den letzten Tagen lernten wir noch Francesca und Tom (Vlados Sohn und Schwiegertochter) kennen, die uns sehr gastfreundlich zu Rotwein und Käse zu sich einluden und mit denen wir uns wunderbar verstanden haben. Villa Palma Apartment – September 2015

Vlado and Francesca are such good hosts, they helped us to book boats to hire sorted our transfer from the airport and even cooked us a lovely meal on our last night. The apartment is beautiful with amazing views of the sea and immaculately presented, it is perfectly located for the local restaurants and beaches, sucuraj is an unspoilt little harbour town that has everything you need for a relaxing holiday. We cannot wait to return next year.

The apartment is nice and functional , the view from the big windows is wonderful and so is the beach that is also very close.
The owner is very helpful and welcoming.
Sucuraj is a very small village and it is located 1 hour and a half drive from the more turistic Hvar town, so the beach was not too crowded even if we were there in high season.

From the moment we made our initial enquiry to Francesca we were impressed by the service offered & we were not disappointed at any point during our stay.

Vlado met us at the ferry & helped us navigate the vehicle route through beautiful unspoilt Sucaraj. The apartment is perfectly located in a peaceful spot but only a couple of minutes walk in one direction to the quiet rocky beach with clean clear waters & 5mins in the other direction to the harbour in Sucaraj where you find small supermarkets, fresh produce stalls & a good choice of bars, cafe's & restaurants.We had great meals & wine & all were excellent value.

Vlado kindly cooked us a wonderful meal one evening & we enjoyed the kind daily gift of fresh figs from the garden & purchasing Vlado's wine, olive oil, honey etc. The apartment is equipped & furnished to a high standard & is immaculately clean. Vlado was happy & willing to answer all our questions & provide tips & advice when required. A fabulous holiday-we hope to return one day.

We stayed here in Villa Palma for two weeks in July and the Apartment was spotlessly clean.

The positioning of the Apartment was great at the highest point of Sucaraj with fantastic views of the sea and only a short 3 minute walk to the Harbour, Shops and Restaurants.

Thank you to Vlado for his excellent hospitality and for entertaining us thoroughly during our stay.

Can't recommend this apartment highly enough, great value, great quality and we would definitely return again.

This is an absolutely exceptional holiday rental in a very beautiful place. It's the combination of a stunning apartment and a magical location that makes it so special, and then you have the fantastically generous, kind host family who are just brilliant.

The apartment is immaculately clean, really stylish, spacious and really well-equipped with thoughtful touches that make it feel like home. We arrived to find milk, juice, beer, wine, butter, jam, honey, bread, tea, coffee, sugar, oil, vinegar, and fruit - some of which was from Villa Palma, and all of which was really appreciated/scoffed! - having been met by Vlado at the harbour so we could follow him to the house. There were two of us, so we had a bedroom each and the beds/pillows were great. The views from the house (and esp. the penthouse apartment) are mesmerisingly beautiful - you could spend most of your holiday gazing out at them! We loved star-gazing from the balcony at night, having breakfast there every morning, and chilling out after busy days finding idyllic beaches with a glass of wine as the sun set.

The area: this is the gorgeously sleepy, quiet, less well-known end of Hvar island and the very best place to stay locally. You are 3 mins v scenic walk to the village (3 supermarkets, several cafes, 7 or 8 good restaurants) and about 90 seconds from the nearest swimming spot in the amazingly clear sea. You can drive to Stari grad and Hvar town in about an hour, and we did that one day, but the pleasure here is exploring what feels like a secret place on a well-known island. We went to a different beach every day (max 30 mins drive) and in September had several to ourselves - we got quite cross one day to be sharing with 6 people! Other than that, we settled into village life, having coffees and ice-creams in the cafes and eating out in some really good restaurants - great seafood, and some excellent pizza, plus fab Croatian wine. If you like a quiet base, characterful places to stay, and tourist-free (ish) locations, I can't recommend Sucuraj highly enough. It's the ultimate chill-out place.

We had all this, for 10 days, but also the generosity of Tomos and Francesca, Vlado and Palmina. They couldn't do enough for us, while we were booking (really helpful tips about the rest of our trip in Croatia) and once we arrived: they helped with our boat hire (we had Tomos' cousin taking us out on an amazing boat trip for a day - a real highlight of the holiday), made dinner for us that night (thanks, Vlado!) and barbequed incredible local fish for us for a beautiful lunch with the family- again, one of our highlights in a holiday full of them.

I can't recommend Villa Palma highly enough. We had a great time - so much so that I've already rebooked for next year (waited until I'd done that before posting this review - didn't want anyone getting my dates!). It's a very special place.

We found everything about Villa Palma to be excellent. The location, amenities, friendly welcome and standard of accommodation. The Villa is very well equipped and has everything you need for your stay. The furnishings and cleanliness is of a high standard.

We were welcomed at the ferry port by Vlado who went out of his way to be hospitable to us. We hired a boat from friends of the owner which made our exploration of the island a lovely adventure.

Sucuraj is stunning and unspoilt. The restaurants in the harbour - just a few minutes walk from the accommodation - serve excellent food with friendly service and the local people are very welcoming. We will definitely return to Villa Palma.

We spent one peaceful, quiet week here, sunbathing and swimming in the beautiful sea and doing not much else. It was just what we needed!

The apartment was fine, very clean and well equipped. Our host, Vlado, who stayed in the ground floor apartment, couldn't have been more hospitable, and even made us a great dinner during our stay. In fact, every Croatian person we met was friendly and gracious. The rocky beach was a 3-minute walk away and our two teenage boys spent many happy hours snorkelling there in the beautiful sea. Perfect swimming temperature too. The little town/harbour area was also perfect, with five or six restaurants, a couple of food shops, and not much else.

We did drive to Hvar town on one occasion (about a 2-hour drive on some quite scary roads, although these are being improved). Frankly, the tourist buzz there made us miss our little place in Sucaraj and we were more than happy to drive back.

We would definitely go back here, although we would probably want to stay in the penthouse apartment next time as we did miss having a living room. While the apartment was great, there isn't really anywhere to sit comfortably, and we ended up reading and relaxing in the beds or on the kitchen chairs. One or two comfortable chairs would have made the apartment perfect.

It is difficult to praise enough our stay at Villa Palma. It was simply perfect.

Lovely and peaceful location, very comfortable apartment - spotlessly clean, furbished to a very high standard, fantastic hosts, beautiful weather (I booked it with Francesca in advance 😉 ), empty beach 200m from Villa and warm water in the sea.

Sucuraj is a lovely small village within easy reach of mainland and main cities, and also the most beautiful secluded beaches. The location of the villa is very tranquil with beautiful views of the mainland, sea and neighbouring island.

From the start, Francesca answered all our queries in a timely manner and gave us invaluable advice on our trip planning.
The owners made us feel very welcome and we found them very generous: they had stocked the fridge with simple provisions and had provided the kitchen essentials such as oil, vinegar, sugar, etc. The owner's family were on-hand and nothing was too much trouble.

There are a variety of beaches around. We explored all of them and were not disappointed.

I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet place in a beautiful location with a great possibility to experience local way of life.

The apartment is as clean as a whistle, when we first entered, we got the impression we were the first guests there – it was only the guestbook that proved otherwise. The apartment is furnished in a modern, very tasteful manner and offers absolutely everything you might need during your stay, whether it’s for a weekend or for a month. You can sense everything in the apartment was carefully planned. If there is one thing that stands out in particular though, it has to be the terrace view. Located on the peak of a hill, Villa Palma Apartment offers a unique view overlooking Sucuraj and the Adriatic coast, which is a true highlight.

The surrounding is extremely peaceful and quiet, it’s the perfect spot to run away from the hustle and bustle of city life. At the same time it’s very conveniently close to the Sucuraj marina with its restaurants and only a minute walk from the sea. The water is crystal clear, the air is clean and refreshing and you can admire the beauty of nature around you. During our stay we have visited Dubrovnik, Split and took a tour of the island and found Villa Palma a great starting point for those trips.

Villa Palma is not merely an apartment though, the place has a soul. The lovely hosts made sure we felt welcome and had everything we needed. We also spent a charming evening together, enjoying typical cuisine and wine and sharing travel experiences. These warm-hearted and friendly people are the reason why the memories of our stay are not ones of renting an apartment, but rather visiting our friends.

Everything went very well with the booking of the accommodation. Arrival information was very precise and we were met at the ferry terminal and shown to the flat. Francesca and Tom gave us a detailed overview of the flat and also of the surounding area and island in general.

The flat was in a very good, clean state. It was equipped with everything you could possibly ever need.

The location is very tranquil with spectacular views of the mainland, sea and neighbouring island. The village of Sucuraj is just delightful with some good restarunts and also convenience shops and a small market for daily necessities.

We mainly enjoyed just trying out the different beaches and occasionally driving to the western end of the island to see the larger towns and villages, which are also all worth a visit. Day tripos to Split and Dubrovnik on the mainland were also made and recommended if you have time.

The hospitality shown by Franesca, Tom and Vlado is hard to beat and we welcomed the opportunity to try and buy some of their homemade produce (figs, olive oil and honey).

We loved Villa Palma, the villa has everything you could need, is tastefully furnished, spotlessly clean, it is in a great location set above the pretty harbour of Sucuraj with a few good restaurants and swimming spots and regular ferry to the mainland. The hospitality shown to us by Francesca, Vlado and Palmina was so thoughtful, with several items stocking the fridge for us when we arrived and we were even treated to a barbecue by Vlado who also helped us to and from the ferry with our cases, we can't thank you enough! Francesca was so helpful with our booking and advice for our trip. Thoroughly recommended!

Villa Palma Penthouse Apartment - July / August 2012 - Caroline & Stuart, UK

We were delighted by the penthouse apartment - spacious, light, well-equipped, very comfortable and blessed with gorgeous panoramic views. Fast Internet with wifi and a big satellite TV were very popular with our two teenage boys (16 and 13). The air conditioning was essential in July/August.

All the amenities of Sucuraj are an easy walk away - food shops (3), restaurants (7), a cafe bar and the long, long beach of Bilina. It's actually a long shore of sloping rocks dotted with marine pines - plenty of places for wading or diving in, soaking up the rays or cooling in the shade. The water is very clean, clear and warm - certainly in July/August.

These are all memorable but our fondest memories are of the owner of the property, Vlado. His warmth and hospitality gave the whole stay an added dimension - we loved our conversations with him. He's special.

We would heartily recommend this property to anybody seeking a quiet relaxed holiday in a beautiful setting. Bearing in mind that Sucuraj is a small port town at the other end of Hvar Island from the main resorts (e.g. Stari Grad), it's an ideal spot for anybody who wants to get away from the tourist crowds.

Villa Palma Penthouse Apartment - July 2012 - Natasha & James, UK

We were the first people to stay in the penthouse and it was fantastic. We travelled around Croatia for two weeks and stayed here for four nights and it was the favourite part of our holiday. The apartment is of an extremely high standard in an idyllic location overlooking olive groves, lemon trees, fig trees, the sea and mountains. Vlado who is on site was a brilliant host and kindly provided us with wine, beer, milk, eggs etc in the fridge and arranged for us to take a speedboat out for the day on the same day, which was an excellent way to find secret bays and explore the coastline. A great bonus is that at the end of the drive you can go straight on to a rocky beach and in to the Adriatic. Sucuraj is a lovely, unspoilt harbour town with plenty of nice restaurants. We miss the apartment and can't recommend it highly enough!
